Katabi Lab

We develop AI systems that enable novel biosensors and digital biomarkers for monitoring diseases and treatment responses. Our work focuses on developing advanced machine learning systems to analyze complex physiological signals using techniques inspired from Computer Vision and Natural Language Processing.

The Katabi Lab is focused on 1) creating tools that can predict, diagnose and monitor conditions otherwise difficult or impossible to assess with current clinical methods, and 2) advancing machine learning for limited supervision scenarios. On the medical side, we are interested in the biosignals of sleep, particularly with regards to neurological and inflammatory diseases. On the machine learning side, our work centers on self-supervision and learning from imbalanced data, which are common challenges in many domains.

EQ-Radio: Emotion Recognition using Wireless Signals

EQ-Radio can infer a person’s emotions using wireless signals. It transmits an RF signal and analyzes its reflections off a person’s body to recognize his emotional state (happy, sad, etc.).
