The impending success of AV technology will create vehicles that collect sensor data at a high rate.
There is every incentive to share the data locally over nearby vehicles (to provide early detection of obstacles) as well as more globally (for longer term analytics). This project is trying to create a storage system for AV data that can scale to the requirements to be coming from widespread deployment.
